This insurance is compulsory for obtaining your visa:

Reimbursement of actual costs from the 1st € throughout the Schengen area

1
You must register with French Social Security on the etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr website. In France, social security is mandatory and free for international students who are not from the European Union.
2
Once registration is complete, you will receive a certificate of affiliation to French social security. Apply for your “carte vitale” (health insurance card) on ameli.fr and declare your preferred physician during your first consultation.
3
In France, social security allows you to benefit from partial reimbursement of your healthcare costs. To avoid paying significant outstanding charges, it is strongly recommended to take out complementary health insurance.
We recommend:
Complementary health insurance
We offer 4 levels of coverage to supplement the reimbursement of social security. Be insured for your basic needs: hospitalization, routine care, medication.
Full coverage from the very 1st level (hospitalization, routine care, pharmacy)
No advance payment required with a third-party payment card
Civil liability insurance (internship, studies, private life)
Repatriation assistance to the country of origin
24-hour medical teleconsultation in French or English
While waiting for your registration with Social Security…
It may take several months to process your social security registration. During this period, you will be covered, but the reimbursement of your healthcare costs will only take place when you obtain your social security number. In order to avoid paying up significant charges, in the event of hospitalization for example, we recommend that you take out our travel insurance policy: Worldpass Schengen
